Role Purpose 

Working to the Chief Executive Officer, this non-remunerated role will be responsible for managing the Derby Rugby Football Club (DRFC) branding and its positioning. The role will promote the club, its partners and its commercial opportunities to members and the wider community. It includes supporting the production of materials for the website, social media and other media outlets with the aim of promoting playing and wider engagement, developing income, and growing the club. The role will work closely with individual sections on these matters to promote communication alignment and cohesion.

Key Responsibilities 

Support the Chief Executive Officer to lead and deliver the delegated responsibilities provided by the Board and attend the monthly management committee meetings.

Contribute to developing and gaining agreement to the vision, strategy and annual business plan of DRFC.

Deliver the aspects of the annual business plan that relates to the marketing of DRFC and the communication of its activities, chairing the Marketing and Communications Sub-committee.

Develop the brand strategy for DRFC, including the brand's tone of voice, positioning, and visual identity, to ensure consistency in the way we market the club and communicate with our target communities.

As part of 4, undertake personal market research to analyse consumer trends, audience demographics, and competitor data to refine messaging and propositions.

Oversee and manage media relations, key press releases, and club messaging to build a positive public profile, working with the CEO to deliver these as necessary

Guide and oversee the work of the Webmaster in creating and evolving a GMS-based website to match the needs of DRFC’s members, its partners and the wider community it supports.

Guide and oversee the work of the Communications Officer and the various section leads that are responsible for producing communication materials for the website, social media feeds and other communication channels.

Work with other the Management Committee members to ensure that their branding and communications needs are being met in terms of driving engagement and commercial leads, delegating responsibility for this work to them as needed. 

Support your team’s roles, deputising where possible in times of holiday or illness.
