Defensive determination seals gutsy 24–19 comeback victory

Another tough day at the office last night (16/10/2026), but the boys showed tremendous guts, determination and character to come away with a hard-fought 24–19 victory.

The game was a real battle from the start. The opposition brought big, powerful forwards and quick backs, putting us under pressure throughout the first half. With a few questionable calls going both ways, frustration started to creep in and a few heads began to drop. However, the boys stuck together and made their way into half-time trailing 19–14.

Half-time came at the perfect moment. The boys had a chance to reset, relax and refocus on what we needed to do. We came out for the second half switched on, with a renewed belief and a clear understanding of what was required to get the job done.

Once again, our defence proved to be the difference. Players stepped up when it mattered, putting their bodies on the line, making big tackles and working hard for one another. We stayed patient, trusted our systems and, when opportunities came our way, we capitalised with ball in hand.

The biggest achievement was keeping Moderns scoreless in the second half, showing the discipline, resilience and togetherness that this team is building. Every player played their part, and when the pressure was on, the boys found another gear.

Coming back from 19–14 down at half-time to win 24–19 shows the character within this group. There is always room to improve, but the fight, belief and commitment the boys showed were outstanding.

Defence wins games, and once again, the boys proved exactly that.

Proud of the effort, proud of the attitude, and proud of the way the boys fought for each other until the final whistle.
